Memoir Coaching for Women

Writing memoir can produce anxiety. Your memoir is your legacy and your legacy is important to you. People say that writing is a lonely process. But, as a philosophical counselor and memoirist, I offer a unique kind of help.

If you have an idea in your head for a book, you will have a completed draft at the end of our work together. My job is to help you articulate what you want to say. As a PhD in philosophy, I’m trained to help people clarify their thinking. If people you’ve run your idea by have asked, “Why should the people care about your personal story?” or “What’s the point?” I can guide you in exploring and articulating what your answers are

Don’t let anyone tell you that writing is solitary work. Of course, no one can do the writing for you, but writing is about communicating. Being able to think aloud to an insightful listener who is quick with logic and analysis can be tremendously helpful at the pre-composing stage. It can help you recognize the direction to take.

I can play that role for you and I want you to bring your writing projects to fruition. My best works are the best because of invaluable guidance I received.

If you are experiencing any of the following, I can help:

  • Feeling stuck, blocked, or overwhelmed by the scope of the project

  • A need to clarify the purpose(s) of the work

  • Uncertainty about the relative importance of the points that you want to make and the most effective way of making them

  • Identifying what’s original about the work

Questions we might explore are:

  • What general truths do you see your story as demonstrating?

  • What change(s) do you hope to bring about by telling your story?

  • Why is there resistance to such change? What are the objections to your views?

How does it work? To apply for a free ninety-minute consultation, email me at philosophicalpractice@gmail.com for my application form outlining the details of your project, its purpose, and the problems that are coming up for you.  I will carefully review it and we will schedule a meeting to discuss what your next steps would be.
